Hestia Health Esquerdo is a private hospital founded by Dr José María Esquerdo in 1877. It was established to provide modern mental healthcare, replacing punishment and excessive surveillance with professional, personalised care incorporating occupational therapy.
It provides personalised, interdisciplinary care (medical, psychological, rehabilitative and social), with medical care available 24 hours a day.

Hospital beds
Hospital Treatment and Rehabilitation Unit (UHTR)
It caters to patients in the Community of Madrid aged 18 to 60 with severe mental disorders who require intensive psychiatric rehabilitation activities that cannot be carried out on an outpatient basis. It has 30 beds to provide comprehensive care through multidisciplinary teams.
Hospital Center for the Treatment of Drug Dependence (CHTD)
The unit’s objective is to provide detoxification, care, rehabilitation, and diagnostic confirmation for patients with severe drug addiction. It caters to addicted patients who may have a comorbid mental health condition and whose needs cannot be met in an outpatient setting at this stage of their addiction. It has 40 beds, 4 of which can be allocated to minors.
Private Hospitalization
It offers inpatient care and treatment to patients with severe mental disorders outside the public health system (private hospital admissions and those covered by private health insurers). It has 60 beds for short-stay (acute), medium-stay, and long-stay admissions.
Hestia Esquerdo Residential Care Center (CRC)
A total of 55 places distributed across two residential support units for outpatient addiction treatment. Care is aimed at providing residents with the necessary support to maintain and consolidate their abstinence, while promoting a lifestyle that fosters social integration.
