Patients from the High Psychiatric Dependency Mental Health Unit (ADP) at Hestia Health Duran i Reynals took part in a therapeutic outing to CosmoCaixa Barcelona, an experience that allowed them to enjoy a space for leisure and learning outside the unit’s usual environment.
During the visit, participants were able to explore different scientific and cultural content offered by the museum, encouraging curiosity, cognitive stimulation, and interest in their surroundings. The activity also provided an opportunity to share experiences and interact in a community context different from the care environment.
The outing, organised through Occupational Therapy by Kanella Makri, occupational therapist in the Mental Health area, aimed to promote social participation, autonomy, and the meaningful use of free time, while also encouraging access to the city’s cultural and community resources.
These types of initiatives form part of interventions aimed at supporting the recovery process of the people receiving care, encouraging their active participation in the community and the development of meaningful experiences that contribute to their well-being and quality of life.
At Hestia Health, we continue to promote activities that connect care, learning, and community, through comprehensive, person-centred care.
