Literature, participation, and emotional well-being at Hestia Health Gràcia

Hestia Health Gràcia Sant Jordi

The Sociocultural Activities Department at Hestia Health Gràcia Intermediate Care Hospital launched an activity focused on literature, active participation and emotional support, creating a space dedicated to the wellbeing of the people receiving care.

Organised to celebrate Sant Jordi, the initiative hosted the presentation of the book Renéixer by Judith Correa Fajardo, the centre’s sociocultural activities coordinator. The book encourages reflection and resilience in difficult situations. The activity also included Natàlia Evangelista, occupational therapist, and Yin Boada, an emotional regulation educator, who supported a space for shared reflection, expression and dialogue.

As part of the preparations, patients actively helped make roses, bookmarks and a vertical garden, activities that encourage creativity, fine motor skills and a sense of belonging.

The event also brought together patients from the reading club run by the Sociocultural Activities and Occupational Therapy departments, along with readers from Fundación “la Caixa”, encouraging social interaction and highlighting the therapeutic role of reading.

Through initiatives like this, Hestia Health Gràcia continues to promote activities that contribute to emotional wellbeing, cognitive stimulation and the humanisation of care, reinforcing a person-centred intermediate care model.
