On 22 July, patients and professionals from Hestia Health La Robleda took part in the traditional Madalena pilgrimage in Castrofeito, an event the centre includes in its activities programme every year.
The outing allows people receiving care to experience one of the area’s most deeply rooted popular celebrations and maintain their connection with the social and cultural environment. Sharing celebrations like this creates opportunities for togetherness, participation and community relationships, all aspects of person-centred care.
Throughout the day, attendees enjoyed the music and festive atmosphere, joined in the dancing and shared conversations and time together with fellow service users and professionals.
There was also time for an outdoor meal in the shade of the trees, featuring some of Galicia’s most representative dishes, such as pulpo á feira and churrasco.
Taking part in activities connected with local customs and surroundings can encourage the recall of experiences, social interaction and a sense of belonging. Hestia Health La Robleda therefore promotes activities that complement clinical care and contribute to wellbeing in different ways.
The Madalena pilgrimage once again became an opportunity to share, participate and keep alive the connection with a tradition closely linked to the community.
