Self-care 24/7: small habits for well-being

To mark International Self-Care Day, Hestia Health San José organised a practical day to remind us that caring for ourselves should not be an occasional action, but a habit maintained 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

For people with severe mental disorders, maintaining certain personal care routines can be more difficult at times. Symptoms, mood or the loss of habits can affect everyday life. The Occupational Therapy department therefore designed accessible, practical activities to support each person in regaining and maintaining their independence.

The day began with joint mobility exercises and stretches to encourage physical activation and emotional wellbeing. Facial and hand care workshops followed, focusing on hygiene, moisturising, relaxation and body awareness.

Time was also set aside for rest and social interaction, understood as an essential part of self-care. The activity ended with a short guided relaxation session.

At Hestia Health, providing tools that help people care for themselves, strengthen their independence and improve their wellbeing is part of our commitment to comprehensive, approachable and person-centred care. Through initiatives like this, we continue to support those who place their trust in us to enhance their quality of life.
