World Mental Health Day: sport, unity, and shared commitment

On 10 October 2025, the Hestia Health hospital group held a sports day at CEM Teixonera to mark World Mental Health Day. This date offers an opportunity to raise the visibility of mental disorders and mobilise efforts in support of mental health worldwide. As the World Health Organization (WHO) reminds us, the aim of World Mental Health Day is to raise awareness and encourage support for people with mental health problems.

A collaborative initiative

The event, led by Hestia Health Coroleu and Hestia Health Duran i Reynals, together with Fundación Hestia, brought together several organisations committed to mental health: CPB, Fundació Hospitalàries, Federació ACELL and Fundación Marcet. The aim was to promote sport as a tool for raising awareness and supporting wellbeing.

Professionals from each organisation not only supported the initiative but also took an active part in running the activities, reinforcing the collective commitment to inclusion and wellbeing.

Sport and mental health

The day highlighted the role of sport as a tool for improving mental health. International organisations emphasise that physical activity reduces symptoms of anxiety and depression, and that regular exercise supports thinking, learning and emotional balance.

This evidence supports the philosophy behind the event, which promoted sport not only as physical activity but also as a way to bring people together through shared commitment.

Long-term commitment

This gathering helped make visible the joint work of social, healthcare and sports organisations to promote inclusion and wellbeing for people with mental disorders. Hestia Health hopes that initiatives like this will continue and develop, with a clear goal: to improve the quality of life of

people with mental illness and continue advancing projects that bring together health, sport and community.
