To coincide with World Mental Health Day, service users from Hestia TLP, the specialist borderline personality disorder treatment unit within the Mental Health department at Hestia Duran i Reynals, made a meaningful visit to the Joventutlh Youth Office in the Bellvitge neighbourhood of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat.
Accompanied by the unit’s lead psychologist, Áurea Belmonte, participants had the opportunity to learn first-hand about the services offered by the Youth Office and its work within the municipal youth independence programme, aimed at young people up to the age of 35. This programme seeks to provide support and tools to help young people become independent, particularly those in vulnerable circumstances.
During the visit, arrangements were also made to attend an art exhibition organised by young people from L’Hospitalet. Scheduled for the second half of October, this activity seeks to create opportunities for young people connected to the mental health network who are at social risk. The initiative promotes their inclusion, visibility and creative expression, encouraging participation in the community.
Collaborations of this kind between community services and mental health organisations are highly valuable, helping to promote service users’ emotional wellbeing and independence by providing spaces for social inclusion and opportunities to build support networks.
The day was very enriching for everyone who took part, helping them feel part of a project that supports them on their journey towards a more independent and fulfilling life.
