Sustainability and cognitive stimulation at Hestia Health Gràcia

During Environment Week, Hestia Health Gràcia held a sociocultural workshop focused on the three Rs—reduce, reuse and recycle—with the aim of promoting environmental awareness through a participatory activity adapted to the people receiving care.

The activity combined learning and creativity by reusing everyday materials such as cardboard tubes, boxes and other recycled items, transforming them into games for precision, memory and cognitive stimulation. Throughout the activity, participants discovered new ways to give everyday objects a second life while reflecting on the importance of reducing waste and adopting more sustainable habits.

Beyond its environmental focus, the workshop developed abilities such as attention, concentration, planning, hand–eye coordination and fine motor skills. The group activity also encouraged participation, social interaction, stronger self-esteem and shared enjoyment throughout the making process.

Initiatives like this integrate sustainability into therapeutic and stimulation activities, creating spaces for learning, participation, group relationships and wellbeing that contribute to comprehensive, person-centred care.
